The speed symbol is a letter indicating the speed at which a tire can carry a load corresponding to its load index. In the above example, the speed symbol “L” mentioned after the load index, indicates that this tire is rated for the maximum speed of 75 mph (120 km/h) at the load as per its load index.
However, it is not recommended to drive at maximum speed as per the speed symbol. It is always safe to drive below the recommended speed rating.
